Overwatch Winter Wonderland is coming next week
Overwatch fans have been wondering if this year there’s still Winter Wonderland, but it looks like it’s coming later than usual.
The Overwatch team has announced a news that the Winter Wonderland event will run from December 15 to January 5. So far, the teaser trailer has only hinted at a new penguin-themed Mei skin. Fans are wondering if this longer wait is anything new and special compared to the previous ones? Or a new game mode with new and more exciting events will appear instead of the usual yeti hunting and snow throwing modes from previous years. The event’s return, however, has been wonderful shattering speculation that it didn’t even happen this year.
Winter Wonderland returns
It turns out our assumption was correct. This event will still take place but will be later than scheduled. This is certainly true, as Winter Wonderland starts early next week with the usual new interface, dialogue and game modes. It’s interesting that Overwatch Europe’s Twitter reveals this, but the official page doesn’t. Usually, an event like this will be promoted or announced with small suggestions weekly. Perhaps, with the pandemic and all the upheavals taking place this year, things should take longer than last year.
The penguin skin for Mei’s is revealed in the trailer, shown to her best friend Snowball’s little robot and disguised as a penguin. For now, we don’t know if this means Mei will also be a penguin or if she will have something more suitable. Also, there is a small possibility that the actual video itself could also be a standout intro for Mei, which is the video that plays when you play a Game. If it were to focus on Snowball, that would be a great highlight to this Winter Wonderland event.
That’s all the news we know for now, but it’s good to see that the Overwatch Winter Wonderland event will take place in 2020 and part of 2021.
