sneaks&peaks #4, Birmingham
Trainer convention? Lifestyle event? Whatever you want to call sneaks&peaks one thing is for certain, it’s a day that all sneakerheads should never miss. We’ve been there from the start with this event and each time it simply gets better and better. Traders seem to bring more hard to find kicks, punters seem to turn up in higher numbers and food vendors seem to improve on each visit.
It’s always been a pleasure to work with the sneaks&peaks team, always accommodating and always working hard, it’s really not that difficult to see why this is one of Britains fastest growing events in the urban lifestyle. Not only is the undeniable success great for the sneaks&peaks team, it’s a great thing for Birmingham, a city that is often misunderstood. Birmingham has a huge array of unfound culture that to any outsider would be near impossible to find, that’s why the success of days like yesterday are doing so much at making the country take note of what Birmingham can offer.
This year’s event got started on the Friday night, with an Easter party at the same location as the event itself. Birmingham residents Moschino Hoe hosted a roller disco in support of the Easter convention, with the venue boxxed one night having drunken souls falling about with wheels on their feet then the next day hosting one of the top lifestyle events in the country, boxxed deserve a huge amount of credit. Their part in the success of sneaks&peaks should never be underestimated and I’m sure the team are eternally grateful for being able to use such a versatile space.
Traders such as ‘From the Sole up’ made their 4th appearance at a sneaks&peaks event and there were a few more familiar faces with Accessories, Outfits, Kicks (AOK) and Aprils Kicks. With new additions such as Ropes Laces and Urban ride, an excellent mix of new and old was to be found. Some of the latest releases including the Adidas ZX Flux prisms were hiding away in stall after stall of pure sneaker goodness.
One of the more underappreciated aspects of sneaks&peaks is always the food, the street food vendors that come down are always on point and number 4 was no different. We saw the return of The Meat Shack who are creating quite the buzz at the moment. Be sure to keep an eye for them at any point in the future. Ultimately though, sneaks&peaks is more than food, it’s more than trainers and it’s more than clothes. It’s a day out to meet likeminded people in a great atmosphere, what’s not to love? My main question now: When’s number 5?
As always we’ve documented the day with a few photos available on our facebook page and we’ve brought you another recap video showing the vibes from the day.
